Automated Certificate Issuance Using ACME
The Certum ACME Commercial SSL certificate is issued and renewed using an ACME client, such as Certbot, acme.sh, win-acme, or the Lego ACME client (detailed guide). EAB (External Account Binding) is used to authorize the client with the Certificate Authority. After ordering the certificate, you will receive EAB credentials consisting of a Key Identifier (KID) and an HMAC key, which you enter when configuring the ACME client. The client uses these credentials to authorize the ACME account and then communicates with the Certificate Authority, performs the required domain validation, and handles the issuance and regular renewal of the SSL certificate. After the initial setup, the entire process can run automatically without the need to manually issue and install a new certificate.

Subscription - the final multi-year price is in brackets. According to the latest security requirements, multi-year SSL certificates are issued only for a maximum of 200 days. Can I purchase multiple years of ACME certificate service in advance?
Currently, CA Certum offers ACME certificates for one-year periods only. Purchasing multiple one-year orders in advance for later activation is not supported. However, CA Certum is planning to introduce 2- or 3-year ACME subscriptions in the future.
When does the one-year ACME subscription period begin?
The one-year subscription period begins when the first ACME certificate is issued, not when the order is placed or paid for.
Can I issue unlimited ACME certificates during my subscription period?
Yes. You can issue and renew ACME certificates as often as needed throughout your paid subscription period. Even when the maximum certificate validity is reduced to 100 days in March 2027, your one-year subscription will continue to cover certificate issuance and renewal throughout the entire subscription period.
Do I need to place a new order every year to continue using ACME certificates?
Yes. Currently, CA Certum requires a new order and new EAB credentials for each annual subscription period. Automatic annual subscription renewal is not available. We hope CA Certum will introduce multi-year ACME subscriptions in the future.
Does CA Certum support CAA records with the accounturi parameter (RFC 8657)?
Yes. CA Certum supports the accounturi parameter for ACME accounts. After your first certificate is issued, you can find the necessary information in our Control Panel.
Where can I find my ACME Directory URL and EAB credentials?
After payment, all the information required to configure your ACME client is available in our Control Panel → Order Details, including the ACME Directory URL and EAB credentials (Key Identifier (KID) and HMAC key).
